We are thrilled to present the first Dev Log for our game project, Free Room! This log marks the beginning of our journey to create an immersive and engaging gaming experience. Here's what we've accomplished and adjusted in our latest development phase:
Added Features:
- Destroy Mesh Functionality: Objects now break and get destroyed when the player clicks the left mouse button with hammer.
- Control Adjustments: The original requirement for object destruction using both mouse buttons has been changed to only require the use of the left mouse button.
- Exploding Parts Effect Implementation: Broken parts of objects now explode away from each other, adding more realism and dramatic effect.
- Functional Physics Object Dragging: Implemented a system for physically dragging objects using the mouse.
- Dragging Distance Limitation: Added the ability to limit the distance at which a player can grab objects.
- Mouse Wheel-based Dragging Distance Customization: Players can adjust the distance at which they can grab objects using the mouse wheel.
- Object Grabbing Only with Left Mouse Button Press: Ensured that players can only grab objects when they press the left mouse button.
- Physics Gun Addition: Added a new tool - Physics Gun, allowing players to grab and drag objects within the game world.
- Weapons and Switching: Added a system for switching between weapons, allowing players to use various weapons, including hammers and others.
Removed During Development:
- Bug fixes related to invalid colliders and rigid bodies.
- Bug fixes related to duplicate class and method definitions, and missing imports.
- Removal of unnecessary code parts to improve game stability and performance.
Adjusted Features:
- Implemented a mechanism for the block preview to blink, informing the player when attempting to place a block in an invalid location.
- Improved graphical and sound effects to enhance the overall gaming experience.
- Optimized physics simulations for increased realism and accuracy.
- Added a UI element to display the radio's status and control.
